Stand-By and Mute – Symptoms of Humanity

August 20, 2011 in Anna's Process Blog

185222 2223011450209 1095417170 2632145 7157319 n Stand By and Mute Symptoms of HumanityToday I did an experiment at my work – I started observing some behaviors between myself and the customers which I’ve found quite interesting – I noticed that I was finding flaws in my mind about the customers and specifically disliked the ones that were cautious, slow and soft speaking and I preferred the ones that came in, immediately state what they wanted, also if I could not remember if after bringing item number five to them, because that were, in my eyes, efficient and I would thus get them quicker out of the shop.

I have even developed a “slide” from the front desk to a fridge so that I can get there faster and “spare” a few steps – (I also do it because it is fun to slide across a stone floor with a smooth surface) it is all about efficiency.

So today I started noticing how I am required to say “how may I help you?” or something similar when a customer comes into the shop. If I do not say anything or even if I say hi and continue what I was doing, they would not speak up. So today I decided to test it and see what would happen if I did not say “how may I help you?” and simply continued what I was doing. I was standing and cleaning some rack when a woman walked in. When I did not say “how may I help you?” she quickly left the shop and I thought to myself that if I would lose customers over this, then I’d better speak the line.

The next customer was a man. With him I had to push myself not to speak, because he kept standing there, innocently waiting for me to finish what I was doing and come ask him: “how may I help you?” I felt bad about just ignoring him, yet I did turn around to show him that I had seen him. I stood there for what felt like an eternity and simply continued cleaning my rack. Eventually another woman came into the shop and after a few moments the man walked out. I have never before experienced not only one, but to customers walking out of the shop without buying something – most people buy something, but this time, I had lost 2 customers simply because I did not speak a automatized line.

The woman then, as the first of the three, asked me if she could buy something and pointed out to me, a little critically, that the man had left.  I explained to her that I was doing an experiment to see if the people would really not ask if I did not ask them first and rather leave the shop. I was shocked to find out that it was so.

People would actually rather leave the shop than to stop me in what I was doing and ask me to service them, which I by the very fact that I was standing behind the counter in an apron, was exactly there to do.

I then started thinking about whether I would do the same and I realized that I would. I have so often stood in some form of situation with another human being, wherein all I had to do was to speak up, where I have rather retreated with my tail of fear and shame between my legs.

I also realized that most of those coming into the shop acting like they own everything and naturally commanding me to “work for them”, where often people with money, who would park their expensive cars right outside the shop, with fast and certain steps walk into the shop and look me directly in the eyes as they said: “I’ll take 2 of those and 5 of these and…” They would also buy more and care less about the final amount.

They looked as though all was right in the world and I was there merely to serve them and it was a fair and balanced relationship. And ironically, these were the people I would feel the most comfortable with, where I could simply do my job without having to accommodate their neuroses and insecurities.

I stared looking at the people coming into the shop and noticing many who felt defeated, ashamed and fearful. Many felt broken or lost or desperate towards their experience and position in life. They would feel inferior to me as a person behind the counter, instead of seeing me as someone doing them a service, which they pay me to do.

It was like they too, where simply pawns or marionettes with entangled and yet invisible strings off the sleeves that pulled their arms up and down, to work and buy and eat and wipe their asses in an endless cycle of events. It was also clear that what was pulling their strings from the other end, was in most cases fear. Fear which they’d “learned to cope with” through dulling themselves will all sorts of addictions. I know this – because I am them myself.

I was however surprised to discover the general experience of defeat and inequality there was in the community in which I worked and how big a role money and social status played in the individual’s experience of him or herself.

There is no punchline or moral to this story – it is simply what is here as a slice of the world where specific patterns are playing themselves out by us allowing ourselves to step back and sit as zombies inside the body, always only looking out and moving the arms and legs and mouth, while a system of neatly orchestrated inequality plays to the beat of it’s own drum, as endless cycles of give and take, give and take – and KATJING in the register and full bellies, but never any real communication or conversation, because we’re simply too nice and too afraid to be direct with each other and look each other in the eyes and say: “is this what we want?”

It is not what I want. So now I gotta practice being direct and directive – standing myself  and walking directly and NOT standing idly by.

Humanity’s Humanity – Lost somewhere between Africa and Europe?

May 16, 2011 in World Exposed Blog

106564851 2 Humanitys Humanity Lost somewhere between Africa and Europe? The following is an example of human nature at it’s worst and it serves as a mirror for all of us to deliberately place in front of our own eyes, not as a reminder, but as a wake-the-fuck-up-call to see and realize that there is nothing remotely humane about humanity as it currently exists.

The story in a few words:

In the North of Africa and in the East of Europe, many people are living in grim poverty and because of that, are forced to move to other countries and try to make money, either to make a living for themselves or to send money home to support their families. This is the raw unfiltered reality for thousands of people who daily try to make a living in the wealthy West and North Europe.

Denmark, one of the smallest and most wealthy countries in the North of Europe, declared last week that it has officially decided to close its borders, in direct violation of the Schengen agreement[i] Danish politicians are defending the decision:

“This is to ensure that the darker sides of the VERY POSITIVE free movement do not strike so hard as they do” says Danish minister of immigration and integration Soeren Pind

“Denmark is “cracking down” on transnational crime” says Justice of Minister Lars Barfoed

“Denmark must be a safe country and we will do everything that is possible to combat the rising crime from abroad,” Barfoed said. “It will otherwise not impede the free crossing of borders by citizens and businesses.”

President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, says that he has “grave concerns” that Denmark’s plan would hinder the smooth functioning of Europe’s single market.

It is clear to see what the priorities are here – we do not even have to read between the lines, to see that the reason to keep the borders open is and has been to allow “the market to flow smoothly”, while the point of allowing people to travel freely and to adhere to the basic human rights, is seen as an inconvenience.

Already some 270 million kroner ($52 million) have been found by the Danish goverment (in the midst of an ongoing recession) to rebuild the tolls and border controls that was removed when the Schengen agreement was agreed upon.

It is also clear that it is NOT transnational crime or human trafficking that is the reason for Denmark suddenly spending so much money on closing its borders. Over the last ten years more and more immigrants and refugees from all over the world has been migrating to Europe and after the events in Tunisia and Libya, the fear is that they will flood the wealthier countries with needs and demands of having their human rights adhered to.

What is ‘fascinating’ is that these rich countries and their politicians who promotes free market capitalism, are not willing to deal with (read: stand accountable and responsible for) the consequences of such a system, where human beings are treated as inconvenient waste-products in the movement of merchandise and thus come to live and act like waste-products (the politicians call them criminals), because they have no other alternatives are they to survive and feed their children, let alone themselves.

Let’s Consider this for ourselves with the mirror of self-reflection at hand: if you were told that your life was illegal, if all the looks you got from people on the street were looks of fear and suspicion, if you could not go to a doctor out of fear of being deported, how long would it take, before you would accept yourself as an illegal and start acting illegally to survive?

And while we have the mirror of self-reflection at hand: who would we be were we those politicians who would do anything to keep the borders closed and only open them as long as it serves the movement of free trade? What kind of humanity is that and where do we recognize it from our own experiences?

Because I guarantee you that I recognize this and if you’re self-honest, you do too – It is a conglomeration of self-perseverance justification and greed topped with the fear of loosing, wealth and luxurious privileges, because we know deep down that our “good fortune” is not a matter of luck or hard word (on our part) – but an accumulation of inequality, that we have accepted and allowed as long as we got something out of it. And the realization required after that pill of bitterness have been swallowed is that it is time to stop. No one is illegal and borders are bullshit fences to justify the continuation of inequality.

This is not the face of madness, fear and desperation of a another world coming knocking on our door. It is the madness, fear and desperation that is ourselves which we can longer deny or hide from and which we can only solve, through facing ourselves within and as the face of madness, fear and desperation as ourselves.

If this is the mirror of humanity, humanity: then it is time to face up and see who we really are. And if this is who we really are, then it is time to change who we really are to someone that we can face in the mirror with self-dignity and self-respect. That solution is here and it is possible for each to participate and take responsibility for this entire mess that we’ve all become. The solution is simplistic: to live the principle of equality as that which is in fact best for all.

Principles are Lies – if they are not Lived.

If principles are not lived, then we are living a Lie.

Cops Shoots Unarmed Child

March 25, 2011 in World Exposed Blog

A Shock wave has hit Brazil after a 14 year old child was shot by police officers. An amateur movie shows pictures of the five officers surrounding the petrified boy outside his house in the town Manuas, pushes him up against a wall and then shoots him five times point blank.

 51832658 011609759 1 Cops Shoots Unarmed Child

The movie was shot last August but the boy’s family was too afraid of the authorities to press charges against the officers. The boy survived the shots after ten days treatment at a hospital, but neither he, the person who shot the movie nor a journalist to whom the movie was shown, dared to come out with what had happened.

They were afraid that the police would retaliate and the family even moved away from the area out of fear. Only when the person who had shot the movie, handed it over to the Brazilian media, did the case begin.

According to the district attorney, the officers have explained that they were investigating a case about an illegal weapon in the area where the boy lived. It is still unclear why the officers shot at the boy. However when looking at the movie and the pictures of the petrified boy, it is clear that he did not pose any threat whatsoever to the officers.

To Protect and Serve?

The officers have been arrested, but no charges have been filed. The boy and his family are now under protective custody. District attorney Joao Bosco Valente says: “The officers have completely disregarded the most basic foundation of police work: To protect the people.”

An unarmed child was shot, point blank by five adult law enforcement officers. What this shows is that the people and institutions that we have created to protect us, is failing miserably at the task. Why? a Money-System based on inequality where those in positions of law enforcement suffer with Poor wages, long working hours and insufficient education. This is not even mentioning the reasons behind why people commit crime in the first place.

It happens Every Day

It has moreover become an everyday occurrence that the Brazilian police shoots and kills people. A former police ombudsman, Professor Julita Lemgruber says in a BBC interview that:

“in the state of Rio alone, the police killed 983 people last year. The figure is similar for Sao Paulo.” “You couldn’t really investigate complaints because you knew there was this curtain of silence that was always present,

She furthermore believes that:  “the police are free to act with impunity.”

It happens  Everywhere

This does not only happen every day in Brazil, but in countries all over the World.  It is clear that the systems and institutions we have build to serve and protect us, are not capable of doing so. This is first of all due to a Money-System through which it is everyone for himself and against everyone else, and it doesn’t matter whether you are an underpaid cop or a gangster. Is it is completely atrocious that a family has to seek protective custody and even leave their home out of fear of being harmed by the very people that there placed there to protect and serve them. flickr 3332076140 hd Cops Shoots Unarmed Child

The Fight to Survive

When people have to fight each other to Survive, they get desperate and even though this is not an excuse for what happened, it shows how we have to Change the way our money and political Systems function. If we are not able to trust that the law is Equal for everyone and that no one can abuse their position of power, how are we able to trust the law enforcement personal to protect us?

It is clear that our Political systems are both corrupt and corrupted because everyone is concerned with their own survival first and foremost and thereby there is not even a system to protect people against the crimes of the police as the politicians are as corrupt as the criminals they legislate against.

How do we Change the World Systems?

A New Direction is RequiredWith a New Directive: To Support All Life in Dignity and Equality, where we Care for our neighbors as ourselves and stop living in the fear of not Surviving or in the Fear of losing what we have.

We must build our systems and institutions on a Solid Foundation with a Clear Starting-Point based on the Principle of What is Best for All. Currently the systems are build on laws that protect those with money and with loopholes where those who know how to play the game, can exploit others in the name of the law as “justice”. The systems are based on the basic assumption that everyone must fight for themselves and no laws does in Fact Protect anyone against poverty or corruption.

Changing The Starting-Point

Within Changing our Starting-Point from having phony “rights” with which we pretend to ourselves and each other that there is some form of “justice”  and overly complicated bureaucratic procedures, to a System that is Based on Real Care – We can ensure that those placed in management-positions are always held accountable and in fact there to protect and serve the people.

The Equal Money Solution

With an Equal Money System, we will first of All ensure that everyone gets Access (read: Access – not “rights”) to the Basic necessities of Clean water, Food, Shelter and Education – from Birth to Death. It might sound Utopian, Impossible, maybe even “socialistic” for some – but it is in Fact Common Sense that if Everyone has Equal Access to the resources on Earth, Everyone’s Living Standards are heightened and thus the entire World’s population will benefit from it.

And it is Practically possible as there already is enough food on the planet to feed everyone. It is the Systems with which we currently manage ourselves, that are based on inequality, fear and self-interest, that are making it seemingly “impossible”.

A System of Care-Actors

To know that no matter what there is a System in place that takes Care of us, at the most Basic Fundamental and Practical level, will make it possible for us to Stop Living in Fear of not Surviving. Thus we will be able to Stop fighting each other and people in positions such as politicians will not be in their positions to gain power or more money – but because they have something Valuable to bring to the table. This is because The Equal Money System will be based on Practical Solutions, not on ideologies or self-defense.

 Cops Shoots Unarmed Child

Furthermore – the Equal Money System will be based on the Principle of Equality as what is Best for All. What is Best for All means what is Best for all at a Physical and Fundamental level and thus cannot be tampered with or bend to someone’s self-interest – otherwise it is not Best for All.

In an Equal Money System, a situation like the one in Brazil will not be Accepted – as the Systems we placed to take Care of us, will in Fact do so, and if not, be replaced by one that will.

How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know?

March 14, 2011 in World Exposed Blog

Investigating Starvation – How does it feel to Starve? How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know?

How does it feel to starve? Have anyone of us ever asked ourselves that question and if not: Why? This article investigates these questions. It investigates the silent and secret resistance that most of us experience when it comes to a subject like starvation – a condition that more than 1 billion people are born into without any possible way of ever getting out. It investigates the problem from different angles and offers a Solution that brings the Perspective back to a Common Sense Re-education of all of us to start Caring for Real and Participate in bringing about Changes that is in Fact Best for All.

So how does it feel to Starve?

How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know?Alouette Mayer writes: “What does it feel like to be hungry, really hungry, for many days? And many weeks? And longer. It’s easy to imagine the beginning symptoms like weakness, shakiness, irritability, fatigue. But what happens when those aren’t remedied by food? Is it painful when the organs begin shrinking as they do in starvation? It must be. And as the immune system loses force, how does one endure the cramping, combined with the weakness, combined with the lowering body temperature, combined with the overall bloating as the body retains fluid?”

Can you imagine yourself feeling that terrible? Now expand it to your family. Your daughter. Your tiny son whose tummy is distending and who cries with headaches. Your grandmother, coughing and scared and silent. What would it feel like to watch a toddler, your toddler, weaken and beg for what you can’t give? No running water, no toilets, huddled in refugee camps miles and miles long, And its getting cold. It’s going to get really, really cold and wet heavy snows are coming. And you’re so terribly hungry.

Imagine the stench and disgusting danger of raw sewage, of the infectious diarrhea that comes from that. And there are already dead bodies to be dragged away to be buried or burned by weak hungry men. How does a frail starving man dig a grave for his neighbor, his friend, or his tiny son? The nights must be endless, filled with prayers for a warm morning sun.”

All that Matters is food

That is unfathomable – except if you are one of those 1 billion people that actually are literally starving to death or one of the 2 billion living in extreme poverty. What I find when I look at it for myself is the word “desperation” – not even a single thought creeps into my mind because all I can think about is food. Maybe I don’t even know how much food actually exists in this world and believe that everyone lives the way I do, or I have seen food at the market, luxuriously prohibited and out of my reach. Maybe my village had food once, but a drought caused the animals and crops to die, so now we have no food. Or maybe I lost my parents to malaria and now have to live on the street begging for scraps and rotten food. Whatever the case: I am hungry.

All I know is that I am hungry. How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know? If I am able to, I drink water to fill the stomach and get some feeling of being full. I feel tired and drained, but I have to keep going and I look desperately everywhere for any sign of food anywhere. I look at the dogs running around and when we had a goat, it was difficult not to kill it, but we needed the milk more than we needed the meat. I keep looking for a way out, but there is no way out, so all I can do is survive.

In a documentary from Nigeria a woman talked about how it would be like to live in a Western country.  What she said was: “that would be nice because then I would not want to die”. Another documentary about North Korea, two men in their twenties, who had escaped the regime and was living in Soul, said that even though they had lived there for over two years, still all they thought about was food. For those of us who have been used to plentiful and endless access to food, it is unimaginable to conceive how it must be like to live your entire life, only thinking about food.

The Good Intentions of The West

In our Western and 1.World countries, it has become fashion that young people travel to third world countries and for example work as aid workers for Humanitarian Organizations, maybe out of the goodness of their heart or because it looks well on a resume to show that you are someone that cares. One blogger wrote about people travelling to third world countries: “I saw so many hungry and starving kids. It was unbelievable!”  This is a too common occurrence in the experience of people who visit Third World Countries and get shocked and in awe of the witnessing of Starving Children, and provides insight into how lucky the rest of us are to have high standards of living that are actually met.”

A question that brings itself to the forefront is whether we are actually lucky or if that is yet another word we have used to justify the fact that we are Equally Responsible for reproducing and recreating starvation and poverty? We know that people starve. We know the figures and the images of starving children. But do we see them as our neighbors, Equally Living Here on this planet or as spots of guilty conscience on our minds? Do people then go to third world countries, only to return with a feeling of relief that it is not them who are in the shoes of those that suffer?

How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know?Google as indicator of Ignorance

If you Google the words: “How does it feel to starve?” you will be surprised to find that the first ten results are questions people have asked in regards to how it feels to starve to death – literally posed and categorized as “trivia questions” – as something people ask for fun or out of curiosity. There are articles about being anorexic or how to starve oneself to get the perfect looks. An example is an article called: “how can you starve yourself without slowing down your metabolism?” If we take Google as a representation of what we as people in the west are willing to consider and investigate in regards to starvation, this is what is revealed about us. We don’t care – even when we say we do, even when we sell and buy products with labels that say we do – we don’t care. Because otherwise we would do something about it. We don’t want to know what it feels like to Starve.

Starves Real Child to Feed Virtual Child

In 2008 there was an article in several newspapers about a Korean couple who starved their child to death, because they were busy raising a virtual child at the local internet café. The virtual child, called Anima in Latin ironically translates to: “A living Being”. How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know?

A police man later told the local media that: “The couple seemed to have lost their will to live a normal life because they didn’t have jobs and gave birth to a premature baby,” “They indulged themselves in the online game of raising a virtual character so as to escape from reality, which led to the death of their real baby.”

This situation is indicative for the current situation in this World, where people of the West are living in virtual realities of their Minds, while disregarding and neglecting the Physical entirely. And why? Because Reality is too hard to Face – because there is no hope anyway and so one might as well lose oneself in the endless layers of information and stimulation provided by The Mind as thought and feeling and manifested into Reality through games such as the one described above. Entertainment is nothing but the suppression of the Fear of not Surviving that is already dictating and directing our lives. How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know?We might read this story and be appalled, but who of us has not gotten lost within the entertaining of our Minds?  What are people actually doing but watching television all night or being busy imagining their future lives? So many people live only for that which is created through and as the Mind, while the Physical is forced to tag along and live out our cravings, desires and nightmares. So this couple depict in brutal clarity the situation of what we have Allowed Ourselves to be and become: Consumed with fear and powerlessness, turning to virtual realities which we try to keep alive, while the Actual Physical Reality, as Who we are – Suffers.

The Hard Facts of Starvation How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know?

In spite of the Fact that there is currently more than 1 billion people (every 6. Person on the planet) Starving – the world produces enough food to feed everyone.  World agriculture produces 17 percent more calories per person today than it did 30 years ago, despite a 70 percent population increase. This is enough to provide everyone in the world with at least 2,720 kilocalories (kcal) per person per day (FAO 2002, p.9).  The principal problem is that many people in the world do not have sufficient land to grow, or income to purchase, enough food.  (worldhunger.org)

What is the problem? And is there a Solution?

As stated above, the main cause of hunger is poverty and the main cause of poverty is the lack of money. Poverty is furthermore re-created and reproduced through generations, which means that virtually no one born into a country with extreme poverty has any chance of every getting out of the living hell that they are born into. This is all do to an extreme income inequality, where half the world’s population are literally carrying the other half like dead weight on their shoulders – and I am not talking about the rich carrying the poor, quite the contrary.

Patrick Bond writes: “The question as to who and what is responsible for African underdevelopment can be answered at two levels. Firstly, the answer is that the operation of the imperialist system bears major responsibility for African economic retardation by draining African wealth and by making it impossible to develop more rapidly the resources of the continent.”

How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know? What are the consequences? – Inequality Placed into Perspective

Looking at the world as a whole, with a 6. Of the world’s population living in poverty and starvation it is obvious that it is not what is Best for All. But too often do we see the world as separated in smaller units that have no influence on each other. Placed into perspective we can use the following metaphor: Imagine a body. Imagine that as you eat and drink, you pull all nutrition from one limb such as the leg or an arm and instead only disperse nutrition into the rest of the body and primarily the head. Imagine having a leg or an arm, completely starved and sucked dry, the muscle issue deteriorating, the skin becoming thin, sensitive and you cannot stand the feeling of pressure or clothes against it. Imagine you dragging your leg after you because it has lost all its muscle mass and are no longer able to function. Imagine the bones of your arm breaking as easily as glass and while the rest of your body is in better condition, this limb is constantly filled with excruciating pain. This is basically what we are doing at this planet, where a 6. Of us are starving to death having exactly these experiences as described above. Now imagine the body being all warped with a big fat head, legs so skinny that they cannot stand and arms and hands worn from working all day.

If the Earth was a single Human physical body

If Earth was a Human Physical body, this is basically what we would look like. Would we be able to stand, walk or move? Probably not. It is unacceptable that people suffer when there is in fact enough food in the world, it shouldn’t matter that it is someone else and not us and only something we care about when we place ourselves in another’s shoes – because when one suffers, all suffers consequently. It is not someone else, in some other world, separate from us that suffer – what we do and how we live is directly influencing what is happening in other parts of the world.

The people that are starving have no possible way of changing their situation. How does it Feel to Starve and do we even Care to Know?Their situation is caused by unequal distribution of resources and by our collective Acceptance of a money-system of inequality as the Directive Principle that is managing the world and everyone in it. How are we equally Participating in upholding and accepting these systems? By turning our backs on those Suffering, because we don’t Act. We either blame our governments, each other or ourselves, but that doesn’t in fact Change the situation – it only makes us feel powerless and from there we can again justify that we are not responsible. Imagine standing in front of a mother starving with a dying child. What do you think she will tell you? Do you think she will blame you or ask you to feel bad for her? Is the Solution to finish our meals or send our leftovers to Africa or Indonesia? No – none of this will change the situation, because the root of the problem is the entire world-system as a whole – a system that is based on our Acceptance of and daily participation in an unequal distribution of resources.

The systems with which we manage our world, determines the lives we live. The money-system does not exist by itself – it is managed and supported by Human Beings. This is why we propose an Equal Money System, because whether we can feel it or not, whether we can imagine ourselves in the shoes of those suffering or not: we are All Equally Here on this Earth and as such have an Equal Right to a Dignified Life.

It is imperative that each of us Face ourselves within Self-Honesty about how we are Participating in Allowing the world to exist the way it does – this is not easy as we have existed within separate mind-bubbles of Separation, Inferiority and Fear and in this not been able to See and Realize that we are Equally Responsible for what is Here.

Q and A – “Do we need an Academic Elite to Change the World? “

March 9, 2011 in Equal Money Blog

The following Question was asked by Tood as a reply to the article: “Academic Education – A Waste of Space, Mind, Money and Time?”in my column on The Sociology Journal

Q – from Tood: great thinkers 300x280 Q and A Do we need an Academic Elite to Change the World?

Do you not think that your call to action in creating an imagined world of equality is also a product of one of these theories of university education which you denigrate in your article? Before action can be taken toward any goal, what is required is a thorough analysis of the situation at hand. This will require thinking, not acting. After this task is complete (and it is not), you must subsequently be able to define the goal toward which you would like to steer society as well as to justify that goal as a proper goal. Given that your goal seems to be equality for all, in all aspects, the next step would be to formulate a process of transition from the current situation to the desired one– a plan of action. This will require an immense amount of interpretation, theory, data-gathering, statistical analysis, historical considerations, etc. (e.g. consider Karl Marx’s more than 3000 page collection of volumes known as Das Kapital). Before beginning work toward global equality, we ought to consider its feasibility, desirability, and complications it may bring– questions which, by the way, are being asked and answered inside the University (consider, for example, the work of analytic marxists such as G.A. Cohen in “Self-ownership, Freedom. and Equality”). I agree with you that the University has a socializing function, and that success in the university is at least contingent upon learning the language-games of academia, however it also functions to open up a space for the dedication of oneself to inquiry– a space which is not generally provided outside of the University. And as a final consideration: when is success outside of the University going to be devoid of the socializing function of the University, or of its criterion of “learning the lingo”, apart from living a hermitic life?

A – My reply:

Hi Tood – When I (and when most people) were a young child, my basic outlook on the world situation was that of: “Why are people starving, when there is enough food?” – “War is stupid, why can’t we simply be friends?”

6a00d83451d12469e200e54f191dcb8834 800wi 300x225 Q and A Do we need an Academic Elite to Change the World? Thus my perspective was that of Simplicity and Common Sense – without moral judgments towards those creating wars: I saw the World and the people within it, as Equal. Therefore the call to action – based on the basic Principle of Equality is not an ideological conception constructed in the Academic class- room.

Unfortunately we have as adults, covered and sugar-coated ourselves in fancy words and knowledge to hide from ourselves within ignorance and abdication of Self-Responsibility – which Actually for any Child, is Common Sense. Thus – we will back up Self-Deception with Self-Righteous regurgitation of useless knowledge simply to postpone the Moment, where we literally have to ACT – where we Actually have to Give up this armor of theories upon theories and see the World and Ourselves for what it is.

It is plain to see, even within the theories of Social Life: Common Sense Perspectives that All can agree on is being reproduced, mutated an twisted into oblivion, even though they always say the same: That to Change the World, we require to Change Ourselves first – because whatever We are, is what the World is too. I have heard professors regurgitating the glory of knowledge and thinking as enlightenment and cure to the disease of ignorance and inequality. Yet – we see none of those professors or students Changing anything in their own Participation. Instead the regurgitation of knowledge is used as the justification for NOT ACTING and thus being reproduced and recycled with every new batch of students in hope of Changing the World.

ar119056881934158 236x300 Q and A Do we need an Academic Elite to Change the World? We do not require anymore “thorough analysis as thinking” of the issues at hand – The sustainable solutions to the World’s problems ARE invented – we are simply not Applying them. If every Child can see the Common Sense of war being stupid and not even blaming those that create war, but simply suggests for us to stop it – it is clearly not assisting to create long theories upon the impracticality of War. It is basic Common Sense: 1 + 1 = 2.

If the 1 eats all the food, the other 1 will starve and the 2 will exist in inequality – which is Clearly not what is Best for All. This requires not Socratic or dogmatic systems of approach – It does however require Self-Honesty of each of us as re-educating ourselves to take Self-Responsibility for what is Here.

The plan of action towards Global Equality is to create a Global Political Party based upon the Principle of Equality, where each commits themselves to Stand Self-Responsible in Common Sense Equality and do what is Best for All – at a Practical, Physical level – in All ways.

This we are doing with the proposal of the Equal Money System, which of course requires thorough planning – but within the Principle of Equality as what is Best for All, no ideological discussions are necessary, which will give us room to investigate and research Practical, Real Life Solutions. hands3 Q and A Do we need an Academic Elite to Change the World?

Even though the tradition of the universities place themselves within the “honor” of the objective inquiry (aka truth producing business) – this is in Fact not so and the Space of universities as learning facilities could be utilized for so much more fruitful and practical purposes – not simply to reproduce knowledge for it to be reproduced. Activism without Practicality as well as knowledge without Application, is useless…

REALITY CHECK: On the Deception of “Good intentions”

January 17, 2011 in Equal Money Blog

“The foreigners love all these images of poor people to sell, to make Money” -

“We want justice for all those who live in tents, while the NGO’s make millions”

” We are telling the States and the NGO’s: You’ve made Money for one year – We’ve been in tents for one year – people have sent millions to help us, but nothing has been done” – “NGO’s can’t really develop or help develop the country – in Fact they make the country even poorer”

REALITY CHECK: On the Deception of Good intentionsThis Clearly shows how there is no functioning International Community or Aid/charity organizations that are Actually Functioning – Still people in the West Justify the Abdication of Self-Responsibility through giving money to these organizations, without fully Investigating what they spend their Money on – Haiti is a small country that is easily accessible – With the Money donated, the entire country could have been re-build and instead they are now dying from cholera for no reason, while aid workers cash in – This should serve as a fucking Reality Check for All those that believe that “someone else” takes Care of it – That the governments and aid organizations know what they are doing and are the one’s Responsible for Assisting these people to rebuild a society that already was one of the world’s poorest and most politically unstable societies.

The root of the problem is the accepted Inequality and indifference of each western citizen towards the rest of the World – which is why Self-Responsibility for the Whole, as this World and ALL PEOPLE is the Solution to Stopping the Suffering and Abuse that is currently being Accepted – So what do we do?

At Desteni we suggest a Re-Education of Ourselves, wherein we Face the Brutal Fact that we have in deed been indifferent, even and when we have believed not to be, when we have believed ourselves to Care. We are doing this through the Desteni I Process, wherein we Support Ourselves and Each other to Start Living according to the Principle of what is Best for All, instead of Surviving within and from Self-Interest as Personality and Preference -

Through this we Start taking ACTive Self-Responsibility for and as this World – We Suggest to Create an Equal Money and Equality Politics System – where we at a Global Scale, Create a System that is Based on the Principle of What is Best For All on a Practicable, Livable Level based on the Simple Fact that Everyone has an Equal Right to Life – a System  based on each of us starting to take Self-Responsibility for and as This World.

Why it is Impossible to Be A Good Person and Do The Right Thing

January 13, 2011 in World Exposed Blog

Why it is Impossible to Be A Good Person and Do The Right Thing

Morality – Has it ever occurred to you how difficult it is to be a good person? In fact it seems that even the best people amongst us, cannot be good all the time – how many times have we not heard of priests, ministers, politicians or soccer moms, whom everyone around them, saw as the best people of their community; giving, loyal, honest, selfless and hardworking – who turned out to be sexual predators, tax evaders or drug abusers? Who were leading their perfect life, with perfect marks, perfect children, degrees, gardens and characters and in secret living a shady life of porn, abuse or addiction? I have realized something for myself: It is not possible to be good all the time. It is not possible to be the model citizen, the perfect mom, a good person. Why? Because ‘good’ is a polarity – the polarity of ‘bad’ and as such the balance will always tip from one end to the other. It might take years or months, we might be living both the good and the bad at the same time, exerting the good to the public, shamefully or spitefully keeping the bad hidden – but it is there.

I Realized that it is not possible to be good, without also being bad – and that no matter how good deeds I would do, how much I would try to redeem and clean myself from the bad, it was not possible – because inevitably the balance would tip and I would find myself doing or saying exactly that I had been fighting and trying to keep away. This explains why these seemingly good people, after years of being law abiding citizens, suddenly go on a killing spree or leave their family: because the good requires an equal bad to balance itself – and we, we are caught in the middle constantly having to keep the bad away, doing our duties, while thinking about the teenage daughter next door or just another glass of red wine. So if bad follows good in an infinite balance that seems to be as accurate as a law of physics, can we actually say that there is such a thing as being a good person?

I discovered for myself that being a good person, that doing the right thing, made me feel good and that this was the primary reason for why I tried to be a good person – because it made me feel good, it made me feel better about myself – When the balanced tipped and I then did what I considered bad, I felt bad, or even reversed, felt constrained by the good and liberated by embracing the bad.

This world as we collectively participate in it and portray it, through our movies, news and public life, confirms for ourselves that the world is good, that we are good – that there is something inherently or at least possibly good underneath it all. To this we give our hope, our faith, our donations to churches and charity organizations, to show and prove to ourselves that we are capable of treating each other with dignity and respect. I discovered for myself that I would do anything to feel good, to feel like a good person – I would follow any leader that told me that what they were promoting was in the name of the good – I dreaded the feeling of being a bad person. But no matter what I did, what I sacrificed or desperately wanted to be true, the bad kept luring in the shadows as a monster that I could not rid myself of. I tried everything, from meditation and anti-materialism, to positive affirmations and vegetarianism. I was deeply committed and truly believed that this time, each time, I would succeed. And in these states of ‘purity’ and cleansing myself of the blood of humanity’s humanity, I felt better than those who did not participate; the meat eaters, the shoppers, the unfaithful – I felt that I was finally raised above these savages, above the savage in myself, and I would feel surged with energy and motivation to do the right thing. Not long would pass and I would get bored, my motivation would drop and soon I would find myself in secret stealing bacon from the kitchen or buying a gossip magazine. For a while, I could block these misbehavings out and pretend like it was not me or say to myself that it was only a moment of weakness and that I would re-commit myself even more firmly to my vows. I remember as a child, praying to God for something to occur, to be saved from a situation and promising that if God would hear my prayer and give me what I wanted, I would stop being bad, I would commit myself to his work. There is no doubt that there are many monks and missionaries out there, who are in this exact position, because they have done the same. But if it is impossible to be good, because good and bad exists in a balance, what are we actually doing? And can this explain why the world exists as it does, of haves and have-nots, of people speaking good, while acting bad, of people who after years of faithful service to gods, wife’s, husband’s or governments, suddenly in a surge of energy, turn bad?

The next question is then what happens is we stop trying to be good? Many would say that the world would run amok, that Suffering would increase, that not having moral standards would legitimize people to do what they wanted; to shoot each other or steal from each other, without remorse. But if we look at the world as it exists in its figures and numbers and digits – is this not already what we are doing? Is this not what we have always done? And if the truth behind why we so desperately want to do the right thing, is that it makes us feel better, how can morality be legit? What if we take both good and bad, right and wrong, out of the equation? Then we are left with the World as it is – no reason, no meaning, no purpose – simply they way we have Accepted Ourselves to Exist and the question of if we are going to keep Accepting Ourselves to Exist like this?

Right and wrong, good and bad are implied through there already being a moral standard, already being a source – whether that is Adam and Eve, God and Satan or The Evolution of Human Consciousness and the ability to make rational and altruistic decisions. But if we look at the World as it exists in its digits and numbers of money spent on war, child deaths and financial inequality, it is evident that it cannot simply be explained through the belief in right and wrong or good and bad. Our laws are not protecting us, our faith and beliefs is not making us compassionate or loving towards our neighbors. Our prisons are not rehabilitating its convicts and the news does not show what is really going on. In our public lives on the streets, supermarkets and at our jobs, we are bullying each other, fighting to get ahead in the line, being consumed by road rage or thinking about having sex with every woman we see. Still we pretend like there is order and civility, while underneath, in our Secret Minds, we only Care about Ourselves. Many people will say that this is not so – That they Care. But if we look at the state of the World, and what we, as citizens, parents, corporations and governments are doing about it, the answer is evident.

Therefore we require of ourselves to bring about new Solutions that does not depend on hope or on a seemingly inherent dormant ability to do the right thing or to be a good person – By holding onto this, in ourselves, towards each other and our children, we are Deceiving ourselves. Therefore we require to Face ourselves, Self-Honestly, Directly, Straight Forward, even though we know that we are not gonna like what we See. And then we require of ourselves to reconsider what we are doing and what the Actual Starting-Point is, for our Participation within and as this World – not the Starting-Point that we’d like to believe we are coming from – and in this, we require to Consider the possible Solutions for Sorting our this Mess that we have Accepted and Allowed Ourselves to be and become. In this, there is no pointing fingers, blaming or pushing the Responsibility away – because each of us, even though that might require some Self-Honest Self-Investigation, are Equally a part of the Creation and Acceptance of this World as it Exists.

Then we can Finally Decide to Live according to Principles of Common Sense, wherein We Realize, that What is Best for All, at a mathematical, physical and practical level, is Best for us to. And finally rational decisions can be made, sustainable Solutions can be developed and Politics and legislation can be used to implement these Solutions. This is what we are doing at Desteni and with the Equal Money System – Because we have Realized that morality is not inherent, that good is an equivalent of bad and that the purpose of doing the right thing and being a good person, is about the energetical surge of feeling good and avoiding Facing Ourselves in taking Self-Responsibility for and as this World. Thus we require to literally Change Ourselves, the nature of ourselves that we have taken for granted and to, both within and without re-educate ourselves and Change the Principles upon which we Govern this World and Ourselves in and as it. It is simplistic to Participate – all it requires is for us to Push Ourselves to be Self-Honest, even when we do not like what we See and to, within that, make the Decision to Live differently, to Live according to What is Best for All.

Lets Sort Out this mess that we have become and Live in a way where Life is Actually Valued and where we do not have to Fear each other or what is inside us, because we have taken Self-Responsibility and re-educated Ourselves to Live according to Principles that can Stand the Test of Time and not energy, beliefs or emotions that weaver and fall and in which we are Separated and Distanced from Ourselves and Each other. Join Desteni, The Desteni ‘I’ Process for Personal Re-Education to Self-Responsibility and Accountability and Join the Equal Money Movement to Create an Equality System of Economics and Politics, that will Give Each and Everyone and Chance to Live without fighting to Survive, without trying to do and be good and never Actually Succeeding.

The Game of Survival – Inequality Equations and Miss-Calculations

December 31, 2010 in World Exposed Blog

Most of the ‘great thinkers’ throughout history have seen parts of this, hinted and circled these points like vultures for truth and reason. But it has become the norm to either avoid setting Principles before preference, to allow ‘free-will’ to ‘run it’s course’ – or to set norms that are constructed with flaws of abdication of Self-Responsibility, placing faith in ‘higher powers’. But if we start a calculation by making one plus one three, suddenly three plus three becomes eight and so whatever we do, will be miss-calculated – every single calculation from then on out, will be flawed.

Thus Nietzsche had a point, when he called for a re-evaluation of all values – of the courage to Face ourselves within the Self-Delusion that we have Allowed to become the very ‘foundation’ of ourselves. Only then can we be able to begin making decisions that are based on Principles before preference, where we Dare to Will ourselves to Stand by these Principles no matter what. All morals that have existed so far, has been inherently immoral, therein lays the flaw and the miss-calculation. We have not Considered Life and from there seen what is required to be done, but have placed ‘more’ value and ‘less’ value, making ourselves the judges of Life, yet abdicating the Responsibility for the decisions we have made within that process – and more specifically, not Daring to Face the fact, that we might have made a mistake within the course of the ‘progress’ that we call ‘evolution’.

Ulrich Beck also has a point when he calls for a Cosmopolitical Global community that dares making local politics Global, which does not only mean for the System of governments, but for the governing of ourselves as well. Within the current system, we are existing in separate well-defined boxes as nation-states and personalities bound to these nation-states, in separate projects that we call ‘a life of our own’. But around us already exists a Global system with the ability to get in anywhere, to move anywhere, to move anyone and to direct the course we collectively take without any foundation in political decisions based on Common Sense Principles and Considerations of What is Best for the Whole of Earth. They seem to be having ‘a life of their own’, yet behind every move made, are Human Beings.

This system functions only within the Acceptance of all of us in it, through the belief that no matter who you are, you have a fair chance. But when you are born chained to the debt of your parents, your country or your continent, the prospects of ‘a fair chance’, equal to someone else in a prosperous situation, is virtually non-existing. Yet we have used this belief to justify the Suffering that we have Allowed and to hide within ourselves the deep dissatisfaction that we too are living only to survive.

From Canada to Cameroon, for each of us finance is about our private lives, earning a living, feeding our children, buying a home. But for some, finance is a game – a game that only they know how to play, a game where it is other people’s money that is at stake. It is a game of speculation, of digits jumping off screens and into the pockets of those fortunate enough to know the rules of the game.

The problem is that each of us, the one’s that worry about our mortgage, about college tuition for our kids, about providing bread on the table the next day, and the next, are not aware that we are part of the game, that we are game pieces, the pawns and ducks and that it is our personal finance that makes up the game board, from which the lucky few have their laugh.

We do not see that we are connected, that we together without knowing it, provide the bolts that make the wheels of the game of finance keep turning. We are all a part of it, from New York to Nigeria – but for some the stakes are higher than for others – some play the parts of the constant losers, generation after generation depleted and exploited: natural resources, education, health-care, clean drinking water and the ability to make a living. Others play the part of the middle-class, the masses of endless consumption, who more willingly take their part in the game, because they might, they might get a shot of getting ahead, of securing their future, of being the one’s that get to play – and win. The secret that no one has told us and that we couldn’t figure out for ourselves because we didn’t know the rules of the game, is that we are playing whether we like it or not, whether we are aware of it or not. And it is within each of us, playing for ourselves, for our own lives that this secret lays. Because we believe that we are not connected, that we are not playing a game – because it is our lives, our childrens lives that are at stake. Yet that is exactly what keeps the game playing itself – the investment of our lives, the fear of not surviving and the desperate comfort when we do.

So essentially there are two games being played on one chess board:  One is the earth with its cities and its cornfields and its oil rigs and its slave labor. The other takes place in the clouds of speculation, making up the rules as it’s goes along for the other game to provide the necessary fuel and finance to ensure that a few, a lucky few, remain the winners. These gamers take media, banking, wars and governments and shape them to fit their need. Everything that we see, everything we eat, every cent we give to charity is carefully calculated to ensure that the game keeps going. It is essential to the game that only a few knows how to play it. So the rules are made complex, requires special education that one can only achieve by investing oneself in the game – a network of gamers, that has been compiled through generation after generation , shell-company upon shell-company that seems endless and off the map. Brands with family names that project loyalty and sincerity, yet are transnational and not bound by any Principles or laws. But behind them are people, behind it all is always people. It is not an evil conspiracy, but it is the Human Nature of greed. And who of us can say that we would not ever have done the same, were we in their golden slippers or golf shoes today?

The point to get across is not the revolutionary notion of the proletariat fighting the evil bourgeoisie – but to understand that the game is kept going by all of us investing ourselves in the game, whether we like it or not, whether we know it or not. The nature of the game is to keep depleting the Earth, its animals and people, through a carefully orchestrated centrifugation of land, crops and oil. How it ends up being real money in the hands of real people, lies within the structure of our systems: our faith that banks are institutions of the people, that governments are institutions of the people, that corporations simply supply the demand of the people, that media serves the interests of the people. And so – we support, we participate; we live our lives, with pensions and debt and cravings for new merchandise to give us the feeling that we are getting somewhere, that we are moving up in the world. The farmer or factory worker in Nigeria or Cameroon has no chance of breaking the chain. The guys on top of the food chain have no interest in stopping the game. They are just as scared of loosing what they have as the rest. And in between are the rest of us. The middle-class that do no harm, the ones that are not responsible. We each live our lives, privately, separately, only meeting in banks, shops, churches, on game shows on TV or even on Facebook. Many of us see that something needs to change. Some place their fate in spirituality, in positive thinking and in the belief that everything happens for a reason. Cleaning the body, the soul, the earth has become a business of its own. Others want to fight the system, the rich, and the governments and unite in small groups of resistance, going ‘off the grid’ often based on feeling powerless and angry. A vast amount of people play computer games, smoke weed, drink or eat because they don’t know what else to do – and then there are those that embrace the system, exercise, build careers and families, believing in the progress of the Human race.

We all know that a change is required, yet we do not believe that we are the ones required to make it happen for whatever reason we make up for ourselves. It is the governments, the corporations, our parents, God’s, the system’s Responsibility – yet it is clear that none of these are capable of taking Responsibility within their current condition. What we do not see, and yet do see without admitting it to ourselves in full awareness of what that implies, is that our World is the Whole World and that these private lives and ‘worlds’ that we experience on a day to day basis, are based on this illusion of Separation and within this the fear of not surviving and the justification of competition with All other ‘parts’ of life as something ‘natural’ and unchangeable. It is supported by the delusion of ‘free-will’, which is really just a fancy word for self-enslavement – the master becoming his own slave and throwing away the key.  If we take a good, long, hard Self-Honest look at the World and ourselves within it, we will clearly see that the ‘free-will’ that we worship is determined by one thing only: Money. Thus we become our own slaves in the belief of ‘free-will’ as something real – willing to give up everything, to sell ourselves, to become workers pretending to work towards ‘self-realization’ within a career as the main purpose of our lives, most of us secretively desiring to be somewhere else, to be someone else, yet not even able to admit that to ourselves having accepted this basic self-deception of ‘free-will’, determined by the silent taboo of money.

When do you ever hear people talking about money? Really talking about money? We would say; “everyday, all the time” – but that is not so. People talk about survival, about the game of survival, either in frustration or relief or brag about their ability to survive. We do not talk about what is behind money, what we, through the symbol of money, and what money to re-present, have done to ourselves. Some will see it and they will see that what is required is to stop the money-system entirely. But what they are not seeing is that the blame and thus the Responsibility for this condition is placed outside Self – trying to fix the illness by making the symptoms go away – be that money, the system, the government or god. We have allowed money to be the re-presentation of ourselves as individuals and as a whole – dis-playing before our very eyes on an everyday basis, the cruelty and the absurdity of the game we play. It is obvious that if we are playing a game without knowing the rules, we never had a chance of winning in the first place. But if the game cannot continue without us playing, knowing the rules or not – we cannot stand by say that we are not Equally Responsible. The question is thus if we dare changing the rules of the game and even more so: what will happen when we do?

Within the Equality Equation of One plus One being two, it is clear to see that it is possible to change the course of the World through a simple Application of Common Sense. This is not about ideological or life-style politics, it is not about debating between a socialist or capitalist society – It is the Basic Common Sense Realization that we All Participate Equally in this World, though through a System based on Inequality and Separation, a flaw in the Equation that can be solved through the Application of Principle above preference, but where some are in a position currently to make a difference, while others are not. It is those of us who are in a position to make a difference that has the first Responsibility to do so – but that also means the Responsibility to sort out our own miss-calculations and Inequality equations within whatever we Participate within and as, inside ourselves as well as in our daily life experiences, as the One plus One plus One plus One – that can Change the game of Survival to a Life in Equality of All Beings – a Life where we can finally start having fun and play together instead of fighting each other in the delusion of separation and survival that was never more Real than what we have Allowed it to be. Support The Equal Money System to End All Inequality Equations through Self-Responsibility For All as One as Equal as Life.

The Academic Elite – A Waste of Space, Mind, Money and Time?

December 4, 2010 in World Exposed Blog

brain The Academic Elite A Waste of Space, Mind, Money and Time?

Academic communities and higher learning facilities like universities are the places where great knowledge is born and passed on with the purpose of ‘enlightening’ our societies for the better.

It is where the great thinkers of our world has been shaped and formed into the greatness, making the world prosper and develop through science, philosophy and through all possible fields of knowledge and technology. It is the world where great men, since the days of Plato have sought and thought the solutions that would create the best world, the best societies and the best Man.

The academic world is a special world; the world of Academia – the world of reason and objectivity, where freedom of thought transcends the shackles of survival and the bounds of religion and politics. Galileo was one of its martyrs, the great thinking, and in all but different ways, so was Oppenheimer. In the days of Plato, the man who could think the Best was the man that could take civilization to a new level. The legacy lives on today with universities being the hatching ground for all great men, be that politicians, scientists or doctors. These are the experts of our world; the one’s we look to for answers about the Universe, about today’s economy, about avoiding cancer and even about the meaning of life. We educate ourselves to BA’s, MA’s and doctoral degrees with the purpose of getting a head (pun intended) and we go through years of writing papers and reports with our eyes fixed on the microscopic detail, with our heads in the books, in classes, attending seminars and lectures until we become something more than we were when we started: The Academic scholar, the intellectual’s – The Elite.

When I was working my way through the years towards the time of deciding upon a future career, I deliberately chose not to go to university. At the time I was rebelling against the shackles of ‘The System’ and I believed that were I to venture towards a university degree, I would be soiled and spoiled by the academic world and by the knowledge that I feared would make me stuck up and arrogant, because that was what I was seeing in people who had been through the limbo of college and university – they came out as different people, believing they were more than the rest, speaking in a secret code that only they could understand. In the end, I ended up exactly where I was pre-programmed to be: At university – that was what my parents had done, what my sister had done and what they had all wanted me to do; become smart, become something, making something of myself.

Thus as a participant rather than a critical observer, what I am seeing is that the world of Academia does exactly what I had feared it would: It indoctrinates and socializes its students through the academic language and culture and through the seductive nature of knowledge being power in this world. We learn that the point of gaining power through knowledge is so that we can make the world a better place. The actuality is that most knowledge simply produces more knowledge, useless for anything than itself, and that the reasons for why we obtain university degrees in the first place, is for self-interest only. When we stop having to worry about physical survival, we can begin worrying about social, mental and spiritual survival.

Recently I attended a seminar where an esteemed German theorist claimed that it was through thinking more and better that we would be able to rip the veil of delusion that is the cause of inequality in this world (Marx would have turned in his grave). He had a romantic notion about universities being the places where peace and respect is born, where knowledge makes the student become self-reflected and thus able to empathize with others. He claimed that it was through the enlightenment of consciousness (he was a sociologist, not a new-age guru), that we could stop social inequality. I asked him if he really thought that thinking was the solution to stopping social inequality and suggested that it might be problematic to simply think and not act. He responded in a way I can only describe as unable to compute, so effectively designed as a great thinker, that he could not even fathom the concept of action being required in stopping social inequality.

I hear professors talk about ‘society’ and never once have I heard any of them state that what is tacitly implied in this word is ‘The Western society’. When I have asked about it, they agree that it is problematic and go on to saying that globalization sure is a hot topic these days. They say that there is no more hard labor, no class division, that we live in a knowledge society of freedom and innovation, but fail to mention that the rest of the world is doing the dirty work, while we wash our hands with Eco-friendly products. I see academic and intellectual people using long and complicated words as synonyms, instead of common words that everyone can understand, for no apparent reason. It is the language of the scientific method I am told, the language of objectivity and empiric proof and therefore it is the language through which all conclusions made about this world becomes valid and true.

As I am studying the classics of sociology and philosophy, I often find myself surprised that someone three hundred or eighty years ago was able to state the obvious and that we now haven’t gotten further than to re-produce the same words in new books and that we seemingly not have learned a single lesson. I often find myself asking: what if all of these great thinkers are all right in their theories and conclusions about the world? Often when I read I can agree with all the theorists, even if they are conflicting, because each of them has a point, but from a specific view or corner of the world. If that is so, is truth or Reality then not multidimensional and thus made up by every single being in this world, all the time changing, as we change and therefore irrelevant as a philosophical project or discussion?  Bernard Poolman once said that ‘There is no truth, only denial of what is Here’ – so while we philosophize about concepts like peace or love, war is as real as it has ever been and it is lived whether people like it or not – not only thought.

When something is invented and created for the purpose of practicality, it holds no status or value besides how much someone can make off it on the market, while academic knowledge is valued and honored in itself, as though it was the holy grail of man’s accomplishments in this world. It seems that the head is the master and the hands, feet and body, the slave. Knowledge is seductively and endlessly spinning in on itself, like the magic of a kaleidoscope. But we forget that it is our hands that turn it, that it is our eyes that look through it – that it is merely pieces of glass reflected by light and that the magic we put into it – is a mental projection.

Universities are where What is Best for All is supposed to be thought and developed. It is where we are supposed to come up with Solutions to stop social and economic inequality, to unite people, to create awareness and reflection – But the academic world is the Elite’s world, excluding everyone that does not understand the academic language, including only those fortunate enough to have money. It is where we are seduced by the value and authority we have placed in knowledge.

Higher education holds no validity if it is not producing results that makes the world a better place. This is after all the whole point, isn’t it? Or is the point to reproduce the Elite, to make sure that the Have’s still get, that the intellectuals are stocked, inbred and isolated on an island of good intentions, but without a grip on the Reality, where for many, every day is a living hell?

We could claim that the difference between an educated person in the developed world and an uneducated person in the developing world is that the first is smarter and thus more civilized. But if We were to spend every moment of every day trying to stay alive, we would have little time or reason to consider ‘enlightening’ our consciousness. The severe exploitation of animals and humans is also a result of the educated western world, where the smarter we get, the crueler our methods of turning life into profit become. All brought to you, the live studio audience, the masses whose human rights have been reduced to consumer rights, whose democratic influence is as powerful as getting to choose between organic or regular eggs. And the academics are the one’s developing the justification that we need to keep our moral balance in check, feeding us expert opinions on the lack of sentinel awareness in animals or that an Indian does not require a higher living standard because he is used to less.

The academic world is not a place of education and development – it is a place that reproduces inequality, justified as the place where these problems can be solved – producing theory upon theory by people who have never had their fingers in the dirt. Academic Education is a waste of space, mind, money and time – if it is not applied towards making the world a better place for everyone. From the days of Plato this was the whole point with educating ourselves – to make ourselves the best we can be.

It is not through big thinking and big words that a difference is made in this world – it is through practical, sustainable Solutions that are most often simplistic and straight forward. Small children are great examples, saying that war is stupid and not understanding why mom has to work for money and not play all day. We require solutions that does not exclude some for the benefit of others, solutions that benefit everyone and makes no one special or more or less than another, simply because; we’re not.

And it is not because we are not capable of actually coming up with these solutions, just look at the development in sustainable energy, in water purification and medicine to name a few. We simply do not prioritize the knowledge and actions that places what is best for Everyone, at a physical, practical level, first – because knowledge in itself have become the grand prize and the token of greatness; we think therefore we are – Really?

Imagine if all education was focused upon working together towards making this world a better place for everyone. Imagine if we were able to focus on creating the best solutions in any given field or subject, without the competition between egos over who knows the biggest words or has the best memory. Imagine a world with Equal Money for All – where Everyone had an Equal Right to a Dignified Life, where Everyone had an Equal right to Equal education and that knowledge was merely a tool used to create what is Best for All.

Is that too much to ask for?  I think not.
